Wow April really just flew by didn’t it? Can the year slow down please? I haven’t had a recent blog post in awhile because life’s been nonstop for the past few months.
I was finally able to take a breath and I’m so excited to share this look with you!
When the seasons change so does my style. After a long winter it only felt right to start adding more color to my wardrobe. Even though the weather is playing games and it doesn’t really feel like spring, I’m ready to embrace more color!
If you watch my IGTV videos on Instagram you’ll know I made a big announcement a few weeks ago!
I haven’t revealed where I’m moving to but I left a big hint that’s it’s outside of New York! So crazy right? Especially since I’ve spent the last 11 years of my life in this big city!
Since I’m moving, it was only right to purge my closet. I was able to sell and donate about 80% of my wardrobe. The move definitely inspired this purge because the last thing I want to do is ship a bunch of clothes that I don’t need. Talk about a waste of money! I have a handful of pieces that I love and could never give away but I also had a lot of clothing stored away that I haven’t worn in years. It was finally time to say bye bye to the clothes with no value and make room for the new!
Who’s guilty of doing a BS purge? Let me give you a quick definition of what a BS purge is. A BS purge is the type of purge where you give away 2 or 3 items you no longer like and then you try to convince yourself that you’re a brand new you! HA! There’s nothing wrong with giving away a few things at a time but I did the BS purge WAY too often lol. It became my excuse to shop more. I had a consistent urge to replace the 2 or 3 things I donated every month and I wasn’t making any progress.
This year I turned it up a notch! I even had a closet sale on Instagram! Shoutouts to everyone who participated. You all are the real ones! I definitely plan on having a closet sale again in the future, so stay tuned! I’m entering a new chapter in my life and it’s definitely time to let some things go and start fresh.
During this purge I realized I barely had any t-shirts to wear for the summer. How was I planning on surviving the summer without a damn t-shirt? My style now vs. my style last summer has changed significantly so the t-shirts I wore last year aren’t really my vibe.
I recently started falling in love with high-neck t-shirts that I found on ASOS. They’re basically short sleeve turtlenecks that are made of a lightweight cotton material. I knew when I bought one that I would eventually want it in every color. After purging I was able to see exactly what it was that I needed to add to my wardrobe and what I didn’t. I took my own advice and now have 8 colors of that shirt in the same style. You’ll know what I’m talking about when I start posting photos wearing these. So far I’ve posted a photo wearing a white turtleneck t-shirt on one of my Instagram posts. Can you guess which one it is?
Now let’s get into this look! I’m excited to talk about the pants and the shirt I’m wearing in these photos. It’s no secret I’ve been in LA more than I’ve been in NY this year. Each time I go there I end up coming back to NY with some really awesome thrift finds. I’m inspired in a different way when it comes to fashion when I’m in LA. I promise that rhyme wasn’t planned haha!
I like finding quality pieces and the shirt I’m wearing in these photos is exactly that! I wish there was a way for you to feel the material, but you can trust me on this one. It’s niiiccceeee! It’s 87% Modal and 13% Polyester.
It fits me perfectly and falls just right. It’s also a new color that I’ve never worn before. You would think I would have a light blue button down somewhere in my closet but, NOPE!
You’re unable to see in the photos but the shirt is asymmetrical. It’s longer in the front and shorter in the back. I like tucking in one half of the front part in my pants for a cute little look. I found it at Crossroads in Old Pasadena and the brand is COS. Here’s a link to their womens shirt collection because I was unable to find this exact shirt on their website. If you scroll around you’ll be able to see a lot of shirts with a similar style. Their quality is amazing and their website is super cute. I can’t believe I only paid around $25 for it and there weren’t any holes or bleach stains. Very thankful for whoever let this piece go. When I give away my clothes I always wonder if my old clothes are bringing the same amount of happiness I receive when I find something I really like! Definitely a dope find! I can’t wait to visit this store again very soon!
The pants I’m wearing are super comfortable and I found them at the same Crossroads location on the same day. You know the thrift gawds are looking out for you when you stumble upon multiple items in the same day! OKAY!!
I searched high and low to see if the designer had a website or any social media but I was only able to find an Amazon, Ebay and Poshmark account. The brand is Bella Luxx and they lowkey feel like leggings but cuter of course lol. The material is super thin so I can still wear them in the summer because they allow my legs to breathe. They even have pockets! When I tried them on they were a perfect fit and they still worked with my androgynous look.
While shopping at Crossroads, I knew right away these two pieces would look great together. They’re both different shades of blue and I was super excited how it came together when I tried everything on. I’ve never paired two shades of blue together but I’m really feeling it!
You’re going to see a lot of color blocking from me this year, so get ready!
